Eid Al- Adhan is one of the two Muslim Holiday celebrations of the year. The ceremony honors Ibrahim (Abraham) who agreed to sacrifice his son to God, before angel Jibrail (Gabriel) intervened by Gods command and eventually a sheep got sacrificed instead of Ibrahim’s son.
One of the beauties of Islam has to be the selflessness the religion preaches and the constant reminder to show acts of kindness to the less privileged within and outside the religion.
The festival marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the most holy Islamic City Mecca and it is also a mandatory religious right for Muslims who are financially and physically capable of carry out this duty. The purpose of Hajj is a religious demonstration of solidarity of the Muslims and their submission to one God. The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, other pillars or Islam aka duties expected of every Muslim includes;
- Shahadah
- Salat
- Zakat
During Eid, Muslims are expected to look their best, according to their financial means when performing the festive rights. Eid prayer is a large congregation prayer, after which the Muslims are expected to slaughter a Halal domestic animal (cow, ram, goat, sheep etc), according to their financial means.
The meat of the slaughtered animal is then divided into three parts
- One third for the slaughtered animal for the family
- One third for relatives, friends, and neighbors
- One third for the poor and needy
The Date
Eid Al-Adhan is always the same day in the Islamic calendar, but varies in the Gregorian calendar, because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, while the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar. The difference in both calendar is caused because the lunar calendar is approximately 11 days shorter than the solar calendar.
Eid Al-Adhan is also a kind of reunion between families who live across the world. People come together at this time of the year to celebrate the festivities with loved ones and strangers. A feeling of satisfaction and purpose derived, that can’t be described.
To all our Muslim viewers and Subs, Team Spice TV wishes you all Eid Mubarak.
