When Fashion Met Tech at The #SPICEHappyHour

Fashion met technology in a fabulous way last night as SPICE TV in partnership with TechCabal held its “Fash Meets Tech” event.  The event which is a part of SPICE TV’s HAPPY HOUR series featured five startups in the fashion-technology industry presenting their products and services. It also had a panel of established local brands operating in the fashion and technology industries. The motivation behind the event was to call attention to this growing sector of fashion- technology and to begin to acknowledge those operating in this space specifically in  Nigeria and across Africa.

5 startups presented their concepts during the event.  The startup were selected from a group of about 30 companies and concepts in development that were submitted following a call by SPICE TV and TechCabal for companies operating at the nexus of fashion and technology.  Startups present were Haute App, Once n Out, My Mesh Wear, Oversabi Tailors, and Thandos.  Each company was given 3 minutes to present their ideas in an innovative and engaging manner.  At the end of the night, Haute App, an application that allows tailors and designers to manage their customer details and work flow, was selected as the viewer’s choice for best concept.

Panelist during the event consisted of  Damilola Jegede from NairaBox, Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture, Ikenna Okonkwo of Heels.com.ng, and Bisola Adeniyi of Lady Biba. Moderated by TechCabal, the panel session succeeded in delivering forward thinking conversations on how to succeed and develop products in the fashion and technology industries.

Another driving force behind the organization of the event was to provide an opportunity and an avenue for those operating in either technology or fashion to interact and network with one another as the best products often come from the successful marriage of two sectors.  Guests sipped on drinks provided by Chivas as they mixed and mingled and explored new avenues to achieve success through collaboration

The evening began with a welcome address by Udochi Nwogu, SPICE TV’s Business Development Manager, and Bankole Oluwafemi,  Co-founder of Techcabal, and then flowed into the presentation segment of the program.  MC for the night was  SPICE TV’s Eso Okolocha (Fliq).

SPICE TV’s Fashion x Tech event was proudly supported by Chivas, Complete Fashion (media partner), Nairabox, Printivo, and BL Restaurant.
