After last weekend’s Lagos-held 2014 WIE Africa Symposium, our heads are still spinning from all the style that turned up. And, with the event dedicated to female innovators, throwing the future of retail and fashion from the continent up for debate, no wonder every attendee’s outfit was so on point!
With guests looking seriously well-styled for WIE’s red carpet, we were pretty hard pushed to find our favourites – but see what we decided were the best looks from the event and tell us if we missed any, below;
TV Presenter and singer-songwriter, Ronke Adebanjo looked stunning in this pretty yellow dress, brightening up the backdrop to the WIE Symposium’s informational event. We love the print, the layered sash detail and how Ronke kept her look fun with a satchel bag – no choosing between beauty essentials to carry for this savvy attendee!
Next, Onah Nwachukwu looked sleek and chic in her monochrome ensemble, keeping things laid back with loose black pants and sandals, but bringing the business with her smart blazer and big leather clutch. We also like how she kept her hair off her face with a sophisticated, swept-back look.
Nigeria’s most stylish, Omoyemi Akerele showed up in a beautiful mirror-print top and cobalt blue skirt, which ensured all eyes were on her. As the founder of Style House Files and the brain behind Lagos Fashion & Design Week, we expected nothing less well done than this. #Perfect.
Radio presenter and producer Fade Ogunro is a regular on the style scene and didn’t disappoint with her feminine, pastel dress and matching shoes. We like how her bold clutch broke things up, and while the length of her dress was totes appropriate for the event, the thigh high slit took things into ‘sexy’ territory.
This utterly chic duo is formed of WIE co-founder Dee Poku and entrepreneur Reni Folawiyo, who were not playing when they got dressed for this event. Ms Poku, who looks perfect in her monochrome print maxi dress, got heads turning all night, while stylish Reni kept cameras clicking with her silk, over-sized powder blue swing top and black pencil skirt. If only we had access to their wardrobes…
Genevieve Magazine editor, Betty Irabor and brand manager, Ann Ogunsulire looked a pretty picture, with Betty in a bold, colour pop jumpsuit and Ann clashing animal prints. Both outfits were fun and feminine, injecting colour into the crowd at the WIE Symposium.
Maki Oh designer, Amaka Osakwe stepped out in a simple pant, sandal and turban ensemble, looking ready for whatever the night threw at her. The tastemaker ticked all the right boxes with her laid-back look, and we are now lusting after her printed pants.
Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Orlandi looks perfect in her asymmetrical LBD and poker straight hair, keeping her look streamlined, minimal and chic. From someone who’s been around the fashion block a few times by now, we’d certainly expect nothing less.
Stylist and image consultant, Veronica Odeka looks vibrant in a bright, bold printed dress and simple court shoes, and we love that she accessorised with the most covetable piece ever – a beaming smile. #Gorgeous.
And lastly, designer Ugonna Umeruo stole our hearts with her printed skirt and white shirt combo. So bang on trend – what with all the Prada-esque ‘arty’ looks flying about this season – we were super pleased to see so many colours fall into one look so effortlessly. Love it.
