With the likes of Cardi B having the best year yet in their Music career, Wizkid can definitely say this year has been more than great in his journey as an Artiste.
Wizkid is the typical example of “started from the bottom now we here”, from having sold out concerts and now breaking another record again. In September this year, Wizkid became the first African artiste to sell out the Royal Albert Hall in London, these tickets were actually sold out two days before the actual concert, asides from that the super star took home three awards at the All Africa Music Awards(Afrima) this year.
At the MOBO Awards which is aimed at celebrating and recognizing artistes who perform “black Music” irrespective of their nationality or ethnicity.
Asides from getting Nominated with major International artists, Wizkid still took the ‘Best International Act’ Award home. How amazing can that be, the most intriguing part are the super star artists he was nominated alongside with, the likes of Jay Z, Drake, SZA, Kendrick Lamar, and Cardi B, were all part of this category and that did not stop this Nigerian born star from making history as the first African artiste to win that category in the MOBO Award history.
This is not just exciting and humbling for Wizkid but for Africans, it only shows that their sound is being heard and also appreciated. We wonder what world record Wizkid is about to break soon.
