Work It Out With Dreyah

A 30-minute dance routine burns between 130 and 250 calories, about the same as jogging. Regular dancing is great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and co-ordination, and beating stress. One of the best things about dancing is that while you’re having fun moving to music, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout.

According to our fitness trainer and dance choreographer ‘Dreyah’ she referred to dance as fitness and fitness too as dance. When you dance you are literally using all part of your body, dance is cardio and also aerobic.

‘Dreyah’ took us through three stages of dance fitness; The first stage is the warm up stage and Seyi Shey’s Yolo Yolo was the perfect song for the warm up, she advised that you warm up your heart rate before indulging it in an intensive routine, this will reduce your gasp for breath and increase strength.

We move to the second stage, the Intensive stage which is in totality the real deal of the dance exercise, this stage tend to increase your heart rate and explains why you need the warm up stage. The intensity of this stage requires you have a bottle of water before and after this routine because you sure would be exhausted, but it’s worth it.

After the intensity displayed in the second routine, we cool down to the sound of Tekno’s Where… This will help us regain the energy we stressed in the second routine. Cooling down has a lot of freestyle moves, it is the flexing of muscles in an aerobic manner to reduce fatigue.
