If Rihanna’s gorgeously done face in the Balmain campaign, or Lady Gaga’s paint-splattered makeup for her “Applause” video is anything to go by, we’d say Yadim Carranza is definitely the right choice of talent to become Maybelline’s new Global Makeup Artist, as announced this week.
A professional who is well entrenched in the fashion world, having shot with the stars, magazine’s like Dazed & Confused and Elle, and being a firm favourite of photographers such as Mario Testino, successful makeup artist Yadim told Vogue of his new role;
“I love the idea of makeup as something quick and spontaneous, and I love the idea of being able to experiment and have fun.”
Jerome Bruhat, President of Maybelline New York Worldwide, added;
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Yadim. He will add a new energy and urban edge to the brand in both his artistry and expertise in global beauty trends. His instinctive sense of colour, coupled with his ability to connect with our consumer, will create a brand experience in a disruptive new way.”
In his capacity as Global Makeup Artist, Mr Carranza will be contributing to new product formulations and more excitingly, Maybelline’s City Blog where he will be dishing out step-by-step how-to tutorials as well as tips on how to achieve some of the latest beauty trends at home.
For someone who says he grew up with memories of Maybelline mascara in his mother’s makeup purse, we bet having it on tap must be a bit of a dream come true for Yadim…
